As August approaches and you all start to slope off on holiday, we reward those who stay behind to do all the work with our annual Champagne tasting. We're even providing you with a beach. This year we take six of our favourite houses and examine the house style and compare that with how they express the characteristics of the best vintages. So from each of the houses listed below we'll take a look at the non-vintage and the current vintage release. This is always a fascinating exercise as the house style of each house is pretty firmly followed from batch to batch, but with the vintage wines cellar masters can let their hair down. A bit. Let's not get carried away - this is Champagne. I will lead the tasting and as ever your input is valued. /CW
