We've written before of how beautifully Rocca di Montegrossi's wines age (I buy the Chianti Classico each vintage and stash it away) but we've never shown you this in practice. Until now.
For his trip to London later this month, Marco Ricasoli has generously delved into his own collection and found a couple of old gems. We decided this warranted an event, and so we've planned a special dinner to showcase Rocca di Montegrossi wines spanning four decades: Marco's 1988 Chianti Classico Riserva and 1995 Geremia will be supplemented from our stocks by 2010 Chianti Classico and 2007 San Marcellino, 2012 Rosato, and a drop of Marco's legendary Vin Santo, from the 2004 vintage.
Many of you will have met Marco previously at Uncorked. For those who haven't, he is the most urbane of producers. The Ricasoli family are integral to the history of Chianti Classico, and Marco's own inheritance is arguably the finest vineyard in the entire zone. Join us for pre-dinner drinks on the roof at Boundary, and then over dinner learn about Montegrossi, its past and its future, and experience the remarkable progress which Marco has made during his time at the estate. /AR
