Lockdown escapism, Uncorked style

This week we bring you a second unmixed case offer based on a few Uncorked favourites we've been enjoying throughout the lockdown period. As Spring comes into bloom, the weather begins to warm up and the evenings lengthen, it's tempting to think of all of the places we'd so much rather be when we're confined to our homes day after day. So, let's try our best to make home great again! Here at Uncorked we can think of few better ways to do so than by adding a little bit of transporting, vinous pleasure into (almost) every day.

Today's selection will take you to the foothills of the Pyrenees with a delicious white blend from the Roussillon and to the gentle rolling landscape of Burgundy with a superb and affordable Macon. There's also a chance to sample the delights of Piedmont with a perfumed, floral Langhe Nebbiolo, as well as a powerful, complex Xinomavro from mountainous northern Greece, alongside a few other exotic gems. Buying by the whole six or twelve bottle case allows you to benefit from our generous unmixed/sealed case discounts and for the wine to be delivered directly from our warehouses. And for those who take a perhaps more 'academic' approach to drinking, it gives you the chance to gain a deeper understanding of a particular wine that you can come back to and get to know over a longer period of time.

2017 Clos des Rocs Macon-Loche En Pres Foret: Full of ripe apple and stone fruits like peach and yellow nectarine, this Chardonnay has freshness and richness in wonderful harmony. It's extremely versatile and can be enjoyed alongside a variety of dishes while also working well as a refreshing aperitif.
2017 Ledda Vermentino di Gallura Solianu: From vines grown on granitic Sardinian soils, the Ledda Vermentino has a wonderful minerality, balanced beautifully by its palate-filling, waxy texture and rich citrus flavours, complimented by subtle notes of dried herbs like rosemary and thyme.
2017 Felicie de Biac Blanc (Cadillac): From one of Uncorked best loved Bordeaux families, the 2017 Felicie is bright with citrus and hints of tropical fruit like mango and pineapple. A touch of oak rounds out the palat
e with vanilla richness to soften the characteristic herbal grassiness of the Sauvignon.
2014 Le Soula Vin du Fenouilledes Blanc: As with all the wines made at Mark Walford's Roussillon property, the 2014 Le Soula Blanc achieves freshness, balance and purity in equal measure. This is an interesting blend of myriad varieties, and the proprtions change year on year, but always comprise Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Vermentino, Grenache Blanc and Grenache Gris. Winemaker Wendy Paille is fiercely committed to organics and biodynamic practices, and the result is a characterful, distinctive yet pure wine that is supremely drinkable.
2016 Argadens (Bordeaux Superieur Rouge): When it comes to good, affordable Bordeaux, it's hard to do a whole lot better than Chateau Argadens (owned by Maison Sichel, the family business who also own Angludet and a good portion of Chateau Palmer). This is juicy Merlot from the Entre-Deux-Mers, full of red and black fruits with ripe tannins providing good structure. Great alone or with heartier foods like
grilled or roasted meats.
2016 Alpha Estate Xinomavro Reserve Old Vines: A relatively new Uncorked favourite, this Xinomavro offers Nebbiolo-esque structure and minerality. This is grown on very old, ungrafted vines and produces an extremely aromatic wine with great freshness and complexity.
2016 Meerlust Rubicon (Stellenbosch): A Cabernet-dominated Bordeaux blend from South Africa's Stellenbosch region. Even at this early stage, the 2016 Rubicon is proving itself to be very drinkable, offering damson and plum fruit, cassis and blackberry, all rounded off with creamy oak and fine-grained tannins.
2014 Roagna Langhe Rosso: Both elegant and powerful, Luca Roagna's Langhe Rosso has achieved full ripeness while retaining the delicate Nebbiolo perfume of dried flowers and cedar. This is classical in style, with the wine undergoing a long maceration to achieve finely woven tannins that are perfectly in tune with the high acidity and fresh minerality. /RRS
