Appointments, arrivals and a (temporary) departure
It's not often we welcome a new member of staff to the Uncorked team - Neil, until now our most recent recruit, has been complaining about being the new boy since 2014. We had a huge response to our recent job ad and after a painstaking selection process we were left with two candidates whom we were hard-pressed to choose between. What could we do? Hire both!
Please welcome Rebecca (second from left in our picture, first class degree in French and Spanish from King's College London, plus a masters from Oxford) and John (right, 2:1 theology, also King's College London). Rebecca has gravitated to the wine trade naturally after a childhood being taken to visit vineyards and producers. John already has an impressive knowledge of producers, and a clear ambition to go far in the trade.
And just like Team Sky, there are more promising young team members in the pipeline. Lucas Rae is not yet seven weeks old but today paid his third visit to Uncorked, together with his fully-functioning pair of lungs. And Finbar is excited that Mum Zoë is about to deliver him a baby (I think) sister, though Zoë has her reservations about the name Finbar's chosen. I don't know why; Tinkerbell's such a distinctive name. We wish her and Gearoid all the best and look forward to her return (hopefully before the 2017 Burgundy campaign). /AR
