Tasting barrel samples is one of the great joys of working in the wine trade. They are best straight out of the barrel, but if you aren’t in the winery, the next best thing is fresh - and I do mean fresh - samples brought to you. So let’s do it. Rather than show three week old samples in some unfindable, musty hall, we’ve sent Jim and Andrew to pick up directly from the producers to show you the best of Burgundy here, on Thursday. We’ll arrange them traditionally for a Burgundy tasting, with the reds first and the whites second. We’ll be here to try to help with queries and sort out the unique questions that arise from tasting unfinished wines. We’ll also be celebrating the culmination of another amazing campaign for the exceptional 2010 vintage. /CW
