Volcanic energy and terroir
The Inama family have been making some of the most exciting wines in Veneto since 1965 when Giuseppe Inama purchased his first plot in Monte Foscarino. From the outset Giuseppe's ambition has been to make complex and terroir-driven wines from the volcanic heart of the Soave region. 54 years on and it's safe to say that the wines from Inama have not only lived up to but exceeded this ambition. The estate is now divided up into the Soave vineyards for the whites and Colli Berici for the reds.
The whites from Soave Classico benefit from a variety of rich volcanic soils that give the wines a wonderful floral and mineral character, while the Garganega grape gives luscious texture and almond notes. The vineyards in Colli Berici just a few miles south-east of the Soave hills are entirely different with marl and red clay over limestone. On this ideal terroir Inama have been growing Carmenere and other Bordelais varieties with great success, using organic practices and restricting yields. The reds are characterised by intense aromas of dark cherry, pepper and savoury undertones with great structure and ripe tannins. These wines are examples of what you can achieve when there is the perfect marriage between exceptional terroir and ambition to be the best. We will be showing the range in the shop today so come have a taste! /JW
