Many winegrowers in France in 2013 found themselves living in interesting times, as across the country meteorological conditions weren't as prescribed in viticultural textbooks. Alsace was no exception, with months that were respectively unseasonably too wet, or too dry, or with too much hail. Nevertheless, as in Burgundy and Champagne many excellent wines were made and we are hoping that the chance to taste Olivier's sterling efforts from the vintage will be as irresistible as ever.
Apart from tasting ten of his 2013s, you'll be able to get the low-down directly from Olivier on whether he thinks biodynamics makes life easier or harder in vintages like this. Or how he maintains year-long fermentations without either everything going horribly wrong or just having a nervous breakdown. Either way this is a chance to get close to one of the world's finest practitioners of biodynamics and one of France's best producers. /CW
