Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, Ghislaine Barthod`s 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru les Cras has a slightly leathery, animally bouquet, but behind that is plenty of gutsy red fruit laced with pressed flowers. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, quite Morey-Saint-Denis in style in terms of structure, with a slightly tarry finish that needs more elegance to show through. I am certain that it will with time; indeed, the wine appeared to rapidly improve and gain cohesion in the glass as it aerated. 92 points
