Slightly reductive but still spicey nose on the 2016 Arlaud Morey-St-Denis. Very fine tannins, quite long and class-beating wine at this level. (CW 7/11/17)

Neal Martin
The 2016 Morey-Saint-Denis Village felt more expressive and cohesive compared to the Chambolle-Musigny village, offering enticing blackberry and briary scents. The palate is well balanced, the 10% new oak discrete and lending weight toward the nicely structured, limestone-tinged finish. Lots of energy here and there is great promise, especially commendable for a village cru. 89-91 points

Strong reduction flattens the underlying fruit. The slightly tighter medium weight flavors possess good delineation and punch before terminating in a saline and mildly austere finale. This will need a year or two of bottle age to better harmonize as it`s somewhat awkward today. 87-89 points
