Neal Martin
The 2020 Beaune Grèves 1er Cru is understated on the nose, opening with brambly red fruit, damp loam and light rose petal scents, though I would have liked a little more intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, fine acidity, quite fleshy and a caressing, poised finish that lingers. Understated but classy. 90-92 points

Medium to dense raspberry, not much deeper than the other Beaunes. The nose is a little bit sterner, more backward certainly. This is on the ripe side, definitely plummy, with quite a firm structure. Still early days for this wine and we shall see where the balance emerges. Probably in a good direction. 90-93 points
