This vineyard is worked by horse. 20% whole bunch vinification, 30% new wood. Dark purple with a little reduction. There is fine potential here too, in a liquid dark raspberry style, long on the palate, some sun dried cherries, but without the alcohol and excess of 2020. Good wine. Drink from 2029-2036. 91-93 points

The 2022 Volnay Les Fremiets 1er Cru had quite a bit of reduction on the nose, making it difficult to read at the moment. The medium-bodied palate offers sappy red fruit and fine tannins, lightly spiced with a touch of orange rind and vanilla on the finish. This doesn`t quite click out of second gear compared to, say, some of the Beaune Premier Crus - a little austere on the finish. 86-88 points
