While village wines usually come from vineyards at the flat bottom of the cote, this is something else. The Lambrays Morey-St-Denis comes from 2 plots, one above Clos de Tart, the other above Clos des Lambrays. The grapes from these high sites are always the last to be harvested in the domaine’s portfolio. The lovely perfume here is cherryish and floral, vivid and classy. And while the wine is fresh and tense, it is nicely bodied with plenty of matter, and not thin at all (as might be the hazard in wines from some high-placed sites). A lovely vintage for this wine, and it could easily pass for a classy premier cru. (NT 24/12/24)

From En La Rue de Vergy and Les Larrets, next door, last picked in this cooler site. The crimson side of purple. As always this has a slightly more sober bouquet than the rest of the range, not having any whole bunches. A dark fruit, a little orange zest, a hillside limestone underlay, fair length, well put together. Drink from 2028-2033. 89-90 points
