Free Friday tasting - The Glory of Greece

Friday, 5 October 2018 - 12:00pm to 6:30pm

Modern Greek

The Greek ancients both made wine and were responsible for bringing the vine to Sicily and much of southern Italy among other places, a legacy that remains largely intact even today. But as a country they have been virtually enslaved for the last few hundred years by different other civilisations. You can especially blame the Venetians and Turks; we'll leave more recent manifestations to one side for now. This meant that Greece was bled dry with their wine industry either discouraged as unwanted competition or just neglected because of a lack of investment. At last, during the last thirty years the Greek wine industry has experienced a rebirth and we are seeing probably the best Greek wines ever made. Today is your chance to taste four of them and we're delighted to offer a mixed 6 at an advantageous price. Details to follow.
