John Gilman
The 2013 les Cras from Ghislaine Barthod will be one of the finest premier crus produced in Chambolle in this vintage. The beautifully complex, pure and properly reserved nose delivers a superb blend of red and black cherries, pomegranate, a very complex base of soil tones, gamebirds, woodsmoke and a deft framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, fullbodied and stunningly transparent, with a rock solid core of fruit, fine-grained tannins, laser-like focus and outstanding length and grip on the vibrant and dancing finish. Given this beautiful bottle of Chambolle a good decade in the cellar to allow it to reach full maturity, and then revel in your good sense to have purchased it for the following three or four decades! Great wine. 2023-2060+. 94+ points
