Neal Martin
The 2019 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru is quite expressive on the nose of red and green apples; touches of orange blossom develop with air. The lightly spiced palate is concentrated, a richer style for the vintage, and then turns quite nutty thanks to deeper, more clay-rich soils that lend toastiness on the finish. Very fine. 92 points

Pale lemon and lime. The Montmains has a stricter nose, some grilled hazelnut on the palate even a touch of pyrazine or scorched rocks. Lime note at the finish, quite complex. Benoît characterises it as more Burgundian. 89-92 points

A smoky nose of mineral reduction, grapefruit and oyster shell introduces dense and almost painfully intense flavors that are supported by citrus-tinged acidity on the powerful and focused finish. Though tightly wound at present, I suspect that this will flesh out relatively quickly. 91 points
