Antonio Galloni
The 2019 Barolo Albarella is impressive. Dark and yet wonderfully transparent, the Albarella offers up scents of wild cherry, underbrush, lavender, dark spice and menthol. Power but without excess weight. That`s what comes to mind in this statuesque, pedigreed Barolo. 93 points

In a pretty bottle with a white wax capsule, the Fratelli Serio & Battista Borgogno 2019 Barolo Albarella has a vibrant, dark ruby color. There is a lot of intensity on the bouquet with dried cherry skin and macerated perfumes of crushed rose petal. You even get a hint of cherry cough drop. You hardly feel the tannins in this well-integrated wine, but there is evident structure and staying power. This is the second vintage produced of Albarella (with only 1,040 bottles made and sold in box sets with four different front labels). 95 points
