2021 Charmes-Godard (Francs Cotes d Bordeaux)

Francs - Cotes de Bordeaux Blanc
At Nicolas Thienpont`s La Prade estate in the valley of St-Cibard, a section of the vineyards is given over to white wine: Charmes-Godard. The blend is 60% Semillon, 25% Sauvignon Gris, 15% Sauvignon Blanc, cultivated across clay, limestone and marl. The wine is raised in 500-litre oak barrels. Very vibrant, very piquant, full of green apple, lemon and white pepper. From the dashing start through the creamy, mid-palate to the intense finish this is a very textural white, like a classy Sancerre but with more breadth across the palate. Lovely. (NT 25/05/22)

2021 Charmes-Godard (Francs Cotes d Bordeaux)

Media Reviews

William Kelley

The 2021 Les Charmes-Godard Blanc is a Sémillon-dominant blend vinified in mostly used 500-liter barrels. Offering up aromas of yellow orchard fruit and citrus zest, it`s medium to full-bodied, saline and lively, showing fine potential. 88-90 points

Antonio Galloni

The 2021 Les Charmes Godard opens with striking aromatics. Jasmine, white pepper, mint, orchard fruit and a hint of spice all meld together effortlessly. A white of crystalline purity and total finesse, Les Charmes Godard is a winner. Once again, Les Charmes Godard is one of the whites of the vintage, not to mention a great value. 90-92 points

Jane Anson

Subdued right now, but with great texture and structure, lovely touches of fennel and lemongrass, with white flowers as the aromatics uncurl in the glass. Harvest September 14 to 24. 48hl/h yield at this quality Nicolas Thienpont estate. 92 points
