Erin Brooks

Opaque ruby-purple, the 2021 Zinfandel Cedarman has broody aromas of dark briary fruit with touches of menthol, graphite and earth. The full-bodied palate is coiled and concentrated at this stage, although it has a harmonious structure and nuanced finish that suggests it will unwind gracefully in bottle over the next decade. 96 points

Antonio Galloni

The 2021 Zinfandel Cedarman is a blend of Dragon and Rattlesnake, with a touch of Petite Sirah. It is once again one of my favorite wines in this vast range. Dark and sumptuous, with great density, the 2021 dazzles right out of the gate. Black cherry, gravel and dried flowers are some of the many notes that inform this deep, flavorful Howell Mountain Zinfandel. The price? Ridiculous for this level of quality and pedigree. 92-94 points
