Charles Ballot used to sell these grapes from La Goujonne but now keeps 8 or 9 barrels. An attractive mid lemon yellow. A certain sucrosity to the yellow plum fruit, medium acidity, some salinity at the back. Drink from 2026-2029. 88-90 points

The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Village is a small cuvee of six or seven barrels usually sold to negociant in exchanges, though Charles Ballot said this has been stopped. It has a clean and fresh bouquet with lemon thyme, Clementine and light crushed stone scents. It`s not complex but delineated. The palate is well-balanced, with a slightly honeyed entry counterbalanced by a fine bead of acidity. There is a dab of spice on the moderate-length finish. 89-91 points
