The 2022 Pommard Les Pezerolles 1er Cru comes from an acquisition of grapes since the original parcel was taken back by Charles Ballot`s cousin, Armand Heitz of Domaine Heitz-Lochardet. He buys the fruit back from him, so it is essentially the same wine, a kind of keep-it-in-the-family-métayage. The attractive bouquet is quite floral, with iris flowers infusing the dark berry fruit and hints of graphite and loam. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit and fine acidity, full of tension with more edge and vitality than the Charmots. Excellent. 92-94 points
